BOTOX® Cosmetic Treatment

1What does BOTOX® Cosmetic Help?
Dr. Boulos uses BOTOX Cosmetic® proactively, to prevent early signs of aging, as well as to treat a variety of immediate concerns, including:
  • Vertical lines between the eyebrows and on the bridge of the nose
  • Squint lines or crow's feet at the corners of the eyes
  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Platysmal muscle bands (vertical lines) often visible on the neck
  • Lower facial muscles such as the masseter muscle (to lessen the squareness and fullness of the lateral jawline), wrinkles around the mouth, and turning down at the corners of the mouth
2What is Botox Cosmetic®?
Botox® is a cleaned purified protein that is created from the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which is what prevents the nerves responsible for muscular movement. The FDA approved this treatment in 2002.
3How long will the BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment last?
Typically a Botox Cosmetic® treatment will last anywhere from three to six months. The time frame for how long the treatment will last varies because everyone’s skin is different so depending on your skin and the area injected your results will vary.
4How do BOTOX® Cosmetic injections work?
The injections block the impulses to the muscles that make your muscles relax. Wrinkles that are on your face will go away almost instantaneously, giving you a fresher younger look.
5What should I expect after the treatment?
Three to five days following the treatment you should see a noticeable difference of the treated areas. The results will last between three and six months.

1How much does the Coolsculpting procedure cost?
The price for CoolSculpting procedures varies depending on your areas of concern, the number of treatments needed, and your ultimate goals. Most patients opt to receive treatments in multiple body areas in order to achieve their goals. The cost typically ranges between $2,000-$4,000 for their personalized treatment plan depending on the number of areas treated.
Create a customized treatment plan, in person, with your CoolSculpting provider that’s tailored to your body, your goals, and your budget. Many CoolSculpting practices even offer flexible payment plans to help patients achieve their goals.
2Can the Coolsculpting procedure reduce fat anywhere on my body?
In the U.S., the CoolSculpting procedure is FDA-cleared for the treatment of visible fat bulges in the submental area, thigh, abdomen and flank, along with bra fat, back fat, and underneath the buttocks (also known as banana roll). Outside the U.S. And Taiwan, the CoolSculpting procedure for non-invasive fat reduction is available worldwide.
3Where does the fat go? Are the results permanent?
Once the treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), they die and are naturally processed and eliminated from the body. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they’re gone for good. Check out the How It Works of the CoolSculpting procedure to learn more.
4Can I return to normal activities after my treatment?
Yes, you can. The CoolSculpting procedure is completely non-surgical, so typically you can return to normal activities immediately. Patients often return to work on the same day after a CoolSculpting treatment is completed.
5Do I need to take special supplements or follow a diet or strict exercise program?
No supplements are required after your CoolSculpting treatment. It’s not a diet and exercise program, so you won’t need to change any of your lifestyle habits. Many patients do feel more motivated to take care of themselves after a CoolSculpting treatment. It’s as if they got a second lease on their body! They want to take even better care of themselves.

Fire and Ice

1How Does the Fire and Ice Facial Treatment Work?

It has a nice cinnamon aroma that relaxes you during the treatment. You may feel a mild tingling effect on your face as it begins to work.
The ice mask is applied once the fire mask is removed. It is a cool skin rejuvenating mask. It contains aloe vera gel, hyaluronic acid, grape seed extracts, Japanese green tea extracts, rosemary extracts and licorice extracts. It soothes the skin and cools the initial peel.
2What Can I Expect After this Facial Treatment?
Immediately after the treatment, you will see a noticeable change in your skin. It will have a beautiful glow and your skin will feel tight and firm.

1What is JUVÉDERM?
JUVÉDERM is the smooth gel filler that your doctor uses to instantly smooth away wrinkles. With just one treatment, you’ll get smooth and natural-looking results that last up to a year.
JUVÉDERM is manufactured using HYLACROSS technology, creating a smooth-consistency gel. It is infused with lidocaine to improve comfort during treatment. With JUVÉDERM® you get the smooth results you expect, with the improved comfort you want. Everyone will notice, but no one will know.
2How does JUVÉDERM work?
Young, healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). But as you age, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. The lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds – like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth.
Using a dermal filler like JUVÉDERM is a safe and effective way to replace the HA your skin has lost, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.
3Do you offer free consultations?
Yes, we offer free consultations. If you decide at the time of the consultation that you would like to go ahead with the services, then we can provide those at the same visit.
4There are two different types of JUVÉDERM Northwest Health Care offers. What are the differences?
  • JUVÉDERM Ultra
  • JUVÉDERM Ultra Plus
The main difference is consistency. JUVÉDERM Ultra it thinner and more appropriate for fine wrinkles and folds in the skin. JUVÉDERM Ultra Plus is thicker and more appropriate for deep wrinkles, folds, and scars.
JUVÉDERM Ultra Plus offers more volume for dramatic results that will last longer.
5What is the average amount of JUVÉDERM I will need per treatment?
This will vary from one client to the next. On average, most clients receive 1 or 2 syringes of JUVÉDERM per visit.

Intense Pulsed Light

1What is IPL?
Intense Pulsed Light is a technology where light is converted into heat energy.
Treatments are like a very powerful camera flash lamp being held against your skin.
The selected light waves target chromophores (colour pigments) such as melanin in brown spots and freckles; and such as haemoglobin in broken or diffused blood vessels. The light waves can also target specific protein molecules in acne bacteria and in collagen. IPL treats all conditions without disruption to the skin’s surface.
2What is the difference between IPL and Laser?
Lasers have been used in surgery for years. The IPL is an adaptation of the laser, more suited to the beauty industry. The biggest difference between laser and IPL, as far as treatment is concerned, is the coverage. The laser beam is very narrow, only covering a small spot at a time, while IPL coverage is several times the area, and therefore treatments are much quicker. The surface area of the Chromolite IPL applicator head is 7.5 square cm – one of the largest on the market. Lasers produce light from one specific wavelength, or colour, for a very specific target. The light emitted from the IPL is composed of a spectrum of colours from different wavelengths, enabling selective photo-absorption (light absorption) to different targets. In other words, using the IPL is like using a group of lasers in a single treatment.
3Permanent Hair Reduction: How does it work?
Intense Pulsed Light targets the colour pigment (melanin) in the hairs. Therefore white hairs can not be treated. Dark hairs on fair skin have the best and quickest results. Fair hairs will require extra treatments with lesser results. Caution is required when treating hairs on darker skins; this is explained below and would be discussed more fully during your consultation.
The hair growth cycle:
Hairs grow in constant cycles: Firstly hairs are actively growing, then they become dormant (resting), and finally they loosen and shed, only to be replaced by more new, actively growing hairs. Hairs in the dormant stage of the growth cycle normally remain anchored in the follicles for weeks or months, depending on their location, but their follicles and associated hair germination cells are not disabled by IPL treatments. These follicles will be treated in subsequent sessions. This is why you need repeated sessions. Hair growth becomes sparser with each session. All treated hairs should shed within about two weeks.
4Skin Rejuvenation: How does it work?
  • Skin Tone and Re-texture
  • Pigmentation
  • Vascular Lesions
  • Acne & Rosacea Skin Rejuvenation is also known as photo-rejuvenation – the non-invasive, non surgical face lift.
The Intense Pulsed Light is absorbed by colour particles which are present in blood and in melanin.
The IPL also treats the propioni-bacterium in acne and protein present in cells which produce collagen.
Pigmentation marks slowly come to the skin’s surface and are shed naturally.
Vascular lesions dissipate into the lymphatic system for excretion, just as bruises do.
Enlarged pores, minor pitting and scarring diminish and fade. Fine lines and wrinkles are softened and may virtually disappear. Collagen & elastin production increases.
5How often will I need treatments?
A course of 5 to 10 treatments is usually required to treat hairs at all stages of the hair growth cycle, at 3 to 6 week intervals; which varies depending on hair type and colour, and the location being treated. Fair hairs will require extra treatments. White hairs can not be treated. A maintenance session may be necessary from time to time, due to the development of new hair growth appearing, as our hormonal balance continues to change with age, or due to the influence of stress, illness, disease and drugs i.e; steroids or contraceptive pills.
It is difficult to predict the number of sessions required, as it depends on the nature of the lesions to be treated and their size, plus the client’s skin type, condition and colour. Some conditions may require maintenance treatments from time to time. This will be discussed during your consultation. Different types of skin rejuvenation require different numbers of treatments.

1What is LATISSE® (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03%?
LATISSE® solution is a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis (inadequate or not enough eyelashes) used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker.
2How is LATISSE™ different from other lash products?
LATISSE™ solution is an actual growth treatment. In fact, it’s the only treatment clinically proven to grow lashes. And it’s the only lash growth product of its kind available by prescription. So you’ll need to talk to your dermatologist to see if it’s right for you.
3Where do I purchase LATISSE™ and what type of treatment is it?
LATISSE™ solution is a once-a-day treatment you apply topically to the base of your upper eyelashes, as instructed by your dermatologist. Then, gradually, the results come in. You may start to see more length in as little as 4 weeks and you should achieve full growth in 16 weeks. It’s not an illusion of growth. It’s your own eyelashes—only better.
4How does LATISSE™ work?
LATISSE™ makes lash growth possible because of its active ingredient: bimatoprost. Although the precise mechanism of action is unknown, LATISSE® is believed to affect the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle in two ways: first, it increases the length of this phase, and second, it increases the number of hairs in this growth phase.
5Is LATISSE™ effective?
The LATISSE® clinical study was conducted at 16 sites across the country and included 278 participants, featuring women and men of various ages (22 to 78), backgrounds and eye colors. Throughout the course of the 16-week treatments, each participant was photographed and evaluated at 4-week intervals (week 0 to week 16) for differences in their overall lash prominence, including elements of length, thickness and fullness. At 16 weeks, the results showed that LATISSE® was effective for 78% of those participating, versus 18% for the vehicle group. Vehicle is the same as LATISSE®, without its active ingredient.

1What is Mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy is a technique of introducing drugs into the skin mesoderm that is, in the skin dermis and subcutaneous tissue. In aesthetic medicine two main indications are the treatment of cellulite body level and at the level of skin rejuvenation face, neck and chest.
2What medications used in mesotherapy?
Since our field is face and neck, IMCF use techniques only mesotherapy for skin rejuvenation. The drugs used are diverse and can be grouped into:
regenerators:PRP (plasma rich in growth factors) we extract from the patient himself: promotes the synthesis of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid for stimulating fibroblast synthesis.
repairers:Uncrosslinked hyaluronic acid: moisturizes the skin by their ability to absorb water.Vitamins (A, E, I, C, B1,2,3,5,6,8,9 and 12), trace elements (minerals and amino acids) and coenzymes. They are best known drugs in facial mesotherapy: “mesotherapy vitamins”DNA: nucleic acid fragments that stimulate collagen synthesis.DMAE (Dimentilaminoetilenglicol): Cholinergic Agonist particularly suitable for the emerging sagging since it increases muscle tone of skin myofibrils.Organic silicon: antioxidant, lipolytic and repairer of the fibrillar matrix (collagen and elastin).
3What is the process?
The patient comes to the office 40 minutes before the completion of the procedure by the doctor to the application of a topical anesthetic cream. The performance of the technique of mesotherapy for face and neck may take around 20-30 minutes and do it with the art of the papule. If the topical anesthetic is applied long enough, the technique of mesotherapy painless.
4How many sessions right for me? and How long will the effects of treatment?
Our protocol mesotherapy has 3 phases: initiation, continuation and maintenance. The initiation phase consists of 3 consecutive sessions, 1 per week. The continuation phase: 2 sessions followed every 2 weeks. In these 5 sessions combine drugs each patient needs ensuring an objective outcome according to established expectations.Maintaining decides each patient being recommended isolated sessions every 4-8 weeks.Mesotherapy hydrates and produces changes in texture and skin color. Reaffirms improves fine lines and sagging emerging. Improvement but particularly slow the effects of aging so are treatments whose use is advised in early times. Its effects can last for months or years if properly maintained continues to the needs of each patient.

1What is Microblading?
Microblading, also known as Eyebrow Embroidery is a procedure categorized under permanent makeup, but unlike traditional cosmetic tattooing, it is less invasive and is considered semi-permanent. Microblading typically lasts 1-3 years, depending on skin type and skincare routine. The procedure is done by using a hand tool with ultra fine needles and each 'hair' is gently etched into the skin, giving an incredibly natural and realistic look. Microblading can dramatically correct or fully reconstruct lost eyebrow and is excellent for those wanting to enhance their brows or who have little to no eyebrows, thinning brows from age or over tweezed brows. Pigments used are chosen to match the natural or desired brow color and skin tone will also be taken into consideration.
2How long does it take?
For the first Microblading session, the entire procedure should take about 2.5-3 hours. During this session, the brow technician will shape and style the client’s brows for client approval. We then follow with pigment color selection. Once the client is satisfied with the choices, we begin the procedure. The client is to come in for a follow up visit in order to have any minor necessary touch ups. The second Microblading session takes place after 4-6 weeks after the initial session. This session will take approximately 1.5-2 hours to complete.
3How long does it take to heal?
The eyebrow area will be slightly red after the procedure and color will appear very dark. This is normal for the procedure and part of the healing process. The color will fade by up to 40% as it heals. In the following days, the eyebrows will continue to be dark and you will notice slight scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the microbladed area. The eyebrows will lighten up in color as it heals. No down time is required after microblading procedure. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the color to fully set in. You'll notice the color is very light right after the two weeks after healing; the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is known as the milk skin and is common in tattooing. This is due to the the tissue still healing from the inside out even though the surface of the skin is healed. True color will reveal itself once healed.
4Is the touch up session necessary?
Yes! A touch up session after 4-6 weeks is necessary as everyone heals differently and outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up during first session and will need to be refilled. Pigment color may need to be adjusted, brow thickness and more strokes can be added. Individuals with oily skin often require a deeper shade during the touch up session as the oils tend to lighten the pigment. Most importantly, your touch up session is when we refine your brows to ensure it looks perfect and retains the color for the whole year!

1What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical, non-chemical, non-invasive method of skin resurfacing that utilizes fine crystals to provide effective exfoliation and rejuvenation of the superficial layers of the skin. When a more aggressive treatment is necessary, vacuum pressure can be increased to evenly penetrate deeper layers of the skin. Increasing the blood supply provides nutrients necessary for skin regeneration, repair, and increased cellular turnover. In return, improving the skins’ elasticity and texture, as well as balancing the pigment.
2How does the treatment work?
The skin is washed to remove excess oil and dirt. Then, a medical professional targets a stream of fine aluminum oxide crystals over the area. The crystals abrade away old, dead skin cells, which the vacuum then picks up with gentle suction. This promotes the growth of collagen and new, rejuvenated skin. Moisturizers and sun block are then applied to the treated area.
3How many treatments are required?
Initially 5 to 8 treatments spaced 7-10 days apart are recommended for most people. Acne scars and or discolorations may require more treatments. Monthly maintenance treatments every 2 or 3 months may be necessary to maintain results.
4Is Microdermabrasion safe?
Microdermabrasion is a safe and common procedure. Unlike laser resurfacing or chemical peels, this procedure is not traumatic and therefore there is no downtime to allow for healing and recovery. But, as always, provide your full medical history and follow your pre and post-treatment instructions.
5Can I go back to work after a microdermabrasion treatment?
YES!!!!! A few patients do notice their skin feeling tight immediately after the treatment as if the skin has been exposed to the sun or wind. You might experience a slight dryness of the skin depending upon your skin type. An effective moisturizer is applied after the treatment to prevent this drying of the skin. The skin might appear slightly red for the remainder of the day. Additionally, the patient is asked to refrain from using makeup on the day of the treatment to give the skin chance to breathe and regenerate itself.
Initially, you may feel a very mild scratching sensation as the crystals make contact with the skin. As the treatments continue, this experience compares to a deep massage. Mild redness may occur for ½ an hour to one day depending on the aggressiveness of the program.

Platelet (PRP)

1What is the PRP process?
Preparation is simple and quick, and completed in our offices during your appointment time. Prior to treatment, we take a small sample of your blood. This blood is immediately placed in the centrifuge for approximately 15 minutes to separate your plasma from the red blood cells. The rich platelets are extracted from the base of the plasma gel. The platelets are injected into the deep dermis or fat layer of the skin. Platelets gradually increase collagen which can increase skin thickness and overall health of the skin.
2How long is the PRP process from start to finish?
Approx 45 minutes to one hour.
3What facial and body areas can be treated by PRP?
Orbital Rim – Around the eyes
Cheeks and Mid face
Crepey skin on the neck
Back of hands
4What are the benefits of PRP?
Tissue regeneration and rejuvenation
Neo – Collagenesis
Neo – Vascularisation
Extracellular Matrix formation
Non allergenic
It is a ‘body own’ physiological product vs. animal derived or human donor products
Elimination of donor transmissible infections
Biological Glue: for tissue adhesion especially in skin flaps, bone grafts and trauma. more prp faqs
5Are PRP Facial results immediate?
No. Immediate swelling and wound healing are obvious at first sight. However, collagen rejuvenation can take from 6 weeks depending on the condition of your skin and lifestyle. More than one treatment will be necessary if the skin is mature.
Initially, you may feel a very mild scratching sensation as the crystals make contact with the skin. As the treatments continue, this experience compares to a deep massage. Mild redness may occur for ½ an hour to one day depending on the aggressiveness of the program.

Skin Medica

1What skin types would benefit from SkinMedica® skin care products?
There are SkinMedica® products that are formulated to be used on all skin types and most skin conditions including sensitive and post-procedure skin. We recommend you always ask your physician which products and regimen will best address your skin type and concerns.
2What is "photodamage"?
Photodamage to the skin is caused by exposure to harmful ultraviolet light. Photodamage can be acute, as in sunburn, or more commonly, chronic, due to gradual changes in the skin caused by an accumulation of sun exposure throughout one’s life. Sun exposure is by far the most influential environmental factor affecting aging of the skin.
3What are the causes of wrinkles?
Lines and wrinkles are caused by degenerative changes in the proteins of the skin’s infrastructure such as loss of stored antioxidants and reduction in collagen. Wrinkles are also caused by movement of the skin resulting in creases over time.
4What are the causes of age spots?
Age spots are also known as sun spots or solar lentigines. Age spots are associated with cumulative sun exposure. Sun spots mostly appear in areas consistently exposed to sunlight such as the back of the hands, the forearms, neck, chest and face. The pigment producing cells in the skin (melanocytes) are stimulated to produce more pigment when exposed to ultraviolet rays.
5How can I maintain the health of my skin?
Using sun protection and appropriate skin care products containing speciality ingredients is essential in maintaining healthy skin.
